☆ Benijo
Benijo TF CN
The queen of all the beaches of Tenerife
TYPOLOGY: black sand
ACCESS: 5 minute-walk. Caution with the stairs
SERVICES: none
BEST TIME TO VISIT: summer and a low tide
Benijo beach is undoubtedly one of our favourites: wide, black and with very few people. It is located in the protected area of the Anaga Rural Park. Getting there is a long drive, but the views are worth it. Access is via a path that starts next to the road and a restaurant called El Mirador. The beach does not have its own car park, and the restaurant car parks are for the exclusive use of customers. So you will have to leave the car on the sides of the road without disturbing the traffic.
In winter the tides can take a good part of the sand, and the beach loses a little of its charm, so if you do not want to get a disappointment better visit Benijo in summer, or go to one of the two beaches next to it, such as Roque de las Bodegas or Almáciga.
P.S.: If you can, stay until sunset, when the sun turns everything red and you feel like there is no better place on earth!
