■ HEALTH CARE

If you reside in the European Union, you have the right to free medical and hospital care during your holidays, in all public health centers in Tenerife. You must have the European Health Card, which you will have to apply for in your country of origin. If you reside in Spain, it is enough to present your health card of the autonomous community in which you reside. If you do not have the European Health Card, you must pay the medical costs in advance and request a refund when you return to your country of origin.

In private centers, the health card is not valid, so you will have to pay for medical care or prove a medical insurance accepted by the particular health center.
