From Teide to the Orotava

Duration: full day ⎜ Distance: aprox 70 km
From the highest peak in Spain to the cradle of Canarian gastronomy.

 ITINERARY >

MORNING

The route begins by visiting the Teide National Park, the highest mountain in Spain. After taking a walk along the "7 Cañadas" or going up by cable car to appreciate the views, you can go down towards La Orotava.

AFTERNOON
Since your visit to this volcano will take you most of the morning, you might want to stop before lunch. For this reason we recommend two "guachinches" so that you can taste the local food and enjoy the gastronomic culture of Tenerife. As the "guachinches" do not serve coffee or dessert, our next stop will be at Casa Egón, in La Orotava, Tenerife's oldest pastry shop. Although the real icing on the cake is to stroll through the old town, between the cobbled streets and its historic houses, and appreciate what remains of the original Canarian architecture until you reach the Museum Casa de los Balcones.

LATE AFTERNOON
If it's summer, we suggest you take a swim in el Bollullo, a black sandy beach with a beach bar that stays open until late. But if you' re in the mood for an aperitif rather than rolling in the waves, you can stop at Terrazas del Sauzal, an elegant and very charming restaurant, from where you can see some beautiful sunsets with Father Teide in the background. Another option is to continue discovering Tenerife's gastronomy and taste the famous ribs of Casa Tomás, ending the day with a delicious "gofio" mousse.
